I was wondering, does anyone know if some type of cacti have caspian (the same burning stuff found in hot peppers) in them as a defense mechanism?

I cut a couple arms off of a cactus I have to replant later and got some of the "cactus juice" on my hands and later on rubbed my eyes. It burned just as bad as when I did the same thing cutting peppers. I scratched my nose even later and now my nose burns.

It kinda got me curious about the nature of cacti.

It does, and actually after cleaning and removing the skin, slice some of it up, and put on a salad. The flat cactus. Wal-Mart sells it in a jar.

I don't think its like the chili peppers but it must have some thing in it. You did not spray any thing on them? You know that in the library they have books on cactus around the world. Maybe you could go in there and find out. Hey you might learn some thing new about them.
