In my personal opinion, they can be very unsafe. Do you know that the
person on the other end is the person they say they are? That's how
pervs and paedophiles pick up children and young people every day.
If they want to be in contact with you the answer must be NO!. Give no
personal information. Too many children and young people are
disappearing every day. It's too risky.

Totally because you don't know who your talking to, how opld the person is that your talking to, their personality. You don't know anything about them! I think that it's unsafe. Especially for teens. God knows what they'll do!!! Unless you know what your doing and can handle yourself then I think that that's ok.But other than that probably no. Even though it's alot of fun to chat in chatrooms.

I enjoy talking in Yahoo Chat myself, and have been a regular for years. If I knew 8 years ago what I know now, I wouldn't ever have got on Yahoo. I believe that if a Chat User understands that people aren't always what they say or appear to be, and they can and will lie and deceive you. Remember the phrase - believe only half of what you see, and none of what you hear....

I think it is unsafe for children or simple minded adults because a predator can easily extract personal information without the person knowing their giving it away. Then, they will find them and do bad things to them. For example, the predator will ask what state you're in.. Its a big state, so you don't mind telling them, they don't know your name or city anyway... Then they ask what school you go to, you think you're smart and don't tell them, but later on they ask what your schools mascot is, you tell them because you don't see the harm in that. They now have a way to find what city your in by seeing what schools in your state have that as a mascot. There are other ways the predator could find you also, and that's why it is unsafe.

I don't like chat rooms for the reason that you really and truly do not know who you are talking to. Some sex offender could be pretending to be a 16 year old guy. Anyone can be anyone they choose to be and no one knows for sure unless they meet the person and even then, it's not safe to meet a stranger from a chat room.

imagine if you were in a room with a bunch of strangers and you actually talked to them. scary. i suppose it's all a bit unsafe, safer than being in public, partly why it's lame, it's safe and easy, say whatever, doesn't matter much. Going out and taking risks, that's what's dangerous.

It's safe but not for kids. It makes you aware about how people are---the good ones and the liars. The real and the scam. It's a good practice of knowing people and what's in their mind without physical contact.

From the standpoint that 10,000 porn bots a day in Yahoo chat rooms are dangerous, Id agree that they are unsafe.
