yeah i have dark side of the moon pajamas... i wear them around sometimes. a lot of people recognize the symbol of the light passing through the prism and make a comment, and it's started some really cool conversations. however, if someone who doesn't know what the symbol means asks me what it represents, i i say they're my gay pride pajamas to freak them out (the rainbow makes it almost believable) it's cool that you take such an interest and have such a passion for music (good music!) at such a young age keep it up man

That is so funny, because you are so right! Most people your age don't have an appreciation for bands such as Pink Floyd! They and other bands of their time, (such as Zeppelin, The Doors, Eagles, Steve Miller, Aerosmith, Beatles, etc.), get left behind! I grew up with all the classic rock, so I have a deeep appreciation for those bands! It is hard for me to comprehend how kids today and even older people can listen to some of the bands they do! But, I know things change! I guess I just find myself wishing for those days when that music was popular and music was music! Now, it sems everything is studio or junk and people just get singing contracts based on looks(Brittney Spears, etc.), not talent! Of course, as I stated, things change and times change, and people naturally will like different music, depending on what they are exposed to, etc.! But, good for you! Keep on listening to Floyd and all those old dudes and just laugh when people tell you they like "Another brick in the wall"! Even though it is a decent song, it certainly doesn't represent any of their best work!

Aw, man. It's really a shame. I've been going through that for a long time. (I'm only 4 years older than you) Our generation's music is a joke. Most of the kids don't know about the great music that already exists and think it's "outdated" which it isn't, in any way. And I too, can't stand when people think they know a band by their most popular song. Ugh. Another Brick In the Wall isn't what Pink Floyd's all about. That's like Stairway to Heaven and Led Zeppelin. Not the band summed up.
Just keep listening to Floyd and other great bands, and know to yourself that you listen to the good music.

When I was younger I was listening to Pink Floyd while my friends obsessed over the Spice Girls. That was a shame. When you get older, in high school and beyond, you'll find like-minded people and probably meet some really cool people based on the fact that you like the older music styles. Keep the faith little dude. Theres good people out there.

I know what you mean...I love Pink Floyd as well...a lot of people that I talk to don't know that Pink Floyd is a group and they always think that it is just one person...or they think that maybe I am just giving the female Pink a last name...Rock on little dude...as it was said before you already have a great taste in music...

If you're wondering about the origin of the name, Pink Floyd was named for two Georgia bluesmen. They were Pink Anderson and Floyd Council.

I know it is difficult when you're 12, but don't worry about what people think. Everyone has different musical tastes; you obviously have sophisticated tastes and perhaps you can introduce Floyd to someother kid. If you like Pink Floyd, may I suggest 3 old, (really old) Genesis albums?
Trespass
Nursery Cryme
Foxtrot

I completley understand. I am 11 years old and a major Pink Floyd fan. The same thing happens to me, but I have a suggestion for you. One of my friends didn't really know about Pink Floyd, but I played her some of their songs and she loves them! We have a blast hanging out together and singing the songs. Try introducing your friends to Pink Floyd! They will be thankful that you have introduced them to something new.

good to know a 12 year old is listening to stuff like floyd
But you know its not just pink floyd...you could ask a kid who the Who are and they might not know...you could ask a kid who Ray Charles is and the might not know...im sure kids have never heard of Led Zep..so its not just Floyd, its all older bands and it happens in all generations...just a generational gap thing
