Absolutely. MY DH is in the military, and makes around $42,000 before taxes. I am a stay at home mom, we have 2 small children, and he has an older child that he pays child supprt for. While we cannot afford everything our hearts desire, we are not in the poor house either. We live very comfortably.
I have to address Jenn A's post quickly. You are full of it. Plain and simple. My DH and I had a new car that we were paying on(whoopsie I totalled it earlier this year); we now have a used, but clearly owned older vehicle. We have cable, internet, cell phones, AND a house phone. She made it sound as though the existence is going to be a miserable, penniless one. You definately won't be going out and buying BMW's and plasma TV's; but you will do more than survive!

Together my fiance and I make 53,000 a year before taxes. We are doing ok. But we will have to just not buy a bunch of crap like we normally do. I do belive god gave us this child for a reason, we just need to make it work. But i also live in South Dakota. Living here is a lot cheaper than bigger areas. I would just not get into anymore debt than needed, and only buy what you can afford and i think you would be fine.

I know a family that earns less than this with 3 kids and they have a nice, comfortable, but not huge home, two cars, two kids in college now, and last one in high school. They just don't go on expensive vacations, out to eat all the time, movies. They rent movies, cook and eat dinner at home, shop sales for clothes, shoes, etc. Kids don't HAVE to have designer clothes, TV/DVD players in their room (Unless they pay for it themselves), their own computers, etc. When I was growing up we tried to get our parents to get a 2nd TV and we were told, "No, we watch TV as a family". The family that I was talking about only send their kids to Disneyland or Magic Mountain as a graduation gift. Although I would LOVE to take my son to Disneyland he may have to wait until he can afford to go on his own, like I did. I didn't get to go until I was 25.

I'm at the situation your in, and we seem to doing fine. You just have to spend a little less on yourselves and maybe save a little more, but it can be done, yes it may be hard sometimes but life is not easy, and nothing is more important then the love of your children. Just remember when the tough times come just remind yourself it will pass and you will overcome it, but overall I think it can be done, if you know how to spend your money right! Good luck hope I helped.

more is always more "comfortable" anyways i would have to say yes you can. my mother makes 29,000 a year with a degree i might add and when i lived at home she supported me and my brother and sister and herself. sure we didn't get everything that we wanted but we had enough. my fiance and i are probably going to end up supporting a family of 4 on way less than that within the year. he only makes 25,000 and i go to school full-time and only make 4,000 give or take. last year i made 3,300. trust me it's not easy. rent, bills, credit cards, 2 car payments, babies.......life. it's all expensive.
i totally disagree with Jenn. my mother has all of those things. she has taken my brother and sister on two vacations this year. one to a waterpark resort and another to boston. they usually do at least one vacation a year. plus all my sister wears is holster, my brother isn't so picky-wears whatever we get him. it just depends on what is important to you. keep in mind my mother's savings is pretty much zero. ours is too at the moment we have had several things come up. but we plan on building a saving for ourselves and each of our children as soon as we get everything straightened out. hopefully by the new year.

Oh yeah, it is very possible. It is more than possible. We barely make 26,000 a year after taxes and we support a family of 3. We don't go out buying big huge expensive things like plasma tv's, 20 inch rims, weekly spa visits, etc and we do fine. It all depends on your bills, and your lifestyle, but I don't see any reason why you couldn't make it.

larger families with(6 or more) have supported themselves with less money than that.
I live in Canada with my husband and 2 children and for the past yr we supported our entire family(all 4 of us) on $12,000 for the whole year. We were on a supplemental income while my husband went back to school for truck driving.
I think it is possible to support a family of 4 on less money than 32,000.

Well it all depends on what bills you currently have ( any credit card, loans, car payments, house payments) I mean there are alot of variables like how much you pay for rent or home. You can definetly support a family of 4 on that, but it all depends on how well you handle your money and what you spend it on.
