why do we hate darth vader?

I think it's because he was so much like us.
In Revenge of the Sith, he risked going over to the dark side because he didn't want his wife to die.
and he was rebelling against the jedi's because he had normal human feelings of anger and desire.

Please let me know if im wrong.

Nah, we hate Darth Vader because he couldn't act his way out of a paper bag, and spent too much time complaining about every little thing, like "sand."

no person hates Darth Vader (except you advise Hayden Christiansen - which maximum people do). Vader'ss written as a unfavorable yet tragic character. no person hates him. on the different hand people HATE Jar Jar Binks. If that turd of a character replaced into tortured then carried out people might have been cheering.

I love Darth Vader, he is my all time favorite movie personality, and I was glad, as I've said before in other answers, tht the Jedi got wiped out. The only down side is that Padme' died & Yoda didn't.

He always sounded like he had asthma which is a sign of weakness. Human nature tends to have us attack those weaker than us, making us feel superior.

When I was a kid, I had a blow up punch doll of him. I remember I used to hit him with a plastic bat and yell, "Take that, Wheezy!"

I hated him when he cut down Obiwan.... but I forgave him when he brought balance back to The Force when he threw down Darth Sidius into the chasm
