Anyone else amazed how he wrote so many novels? My personal favorite is Velocity, but I want to read Intensity, Watchers, and Phantoms. His first novel was "Star Quest"

It's not amazing at all. If you will take a look at Asimov's list of writings you will find that Dean Koontz is a piker in comparison. But, in answer to your question, you write a lot of novels by sitting down and writing. It's a discipline as well as a passion and those of us who are "possessed" tend to write a lot because that is what we do... 8o)

One of my favourite novel is "The Voice Of The Night" by Dean Koontz.. one of his first book I read and I was hooked.. since then I'm a Dean Koontz fan.. The way writes the story is amazing in details and understands human's deepest emotions. "The False Memory" is one of the example...great book.. He continues to amaze me..with every book he writes.. He's the master of all genres...

Velocity was real good but I find his earlier novels were more intense. Try reading Lightning, Watchers, Midnight, Strangers, Phantoms, Intesity etc etc.
