Oh, boo-hoo.
Neither are getting unfair treatment.
Vick deserves everything he gets, and then some.
He was on top of the world, then he started the dog fighting, torturing, killing crap.
Then he lied to Goodell.
The NBA ref deserves what he gets, and then some, as well.

because Tom Donaghy is probably some dude living out in a shack in Montana with a homemade bomb and a hundred cats...you're thinking Tim Donaghy.
Nobody is getting any unfair treatment from the public...Mike Vick is just getting more publicity. I'd never seen Tim Donaghy's face before this came out, and neither had you...but we'd both seen Mike Vick...because he was (kinda sorta) the face of the NFL. Tim Donaghy bet on games he officiated...he should go to jail, and he likely will. Mike Vick hooked up some electrodes to man's best friend and buzzed said best friend's brains out...just something about that that the public doesn't like. He should go to jail, and he should have about a million dogs "unleashed" ;-) on him.
Vick's a sicko...Donaghy's just a DumbA$$

Neither are being treated unfairly. Vick's case is simply more outrageous and bigger news.
1) Vick killed and tortured dogs consistantly for 6 years, then lied to the NFL commissioner, the owner of his team, and the public when he got caught. He also financed an illegal gambling operation. Donaghy bet on games and was involved in manipulating the point spread, activities which do not cause physical harm to living beings.
2) Vick was a quarterback in the NFL. Donaghy was a Referee in the NBA. Vick has the higher profile.

I'm not quite sure I understand your question. If by unfair treatment, you're asking why Vick is more prominent in the news, I'll tell you why. He's the most recent victim of self humiliation. Prior to Vick, Donaghy's name was all over the news.
One federal indictment and a guilty plea later, Vick is all you hear about. The treatment he is getting from the public is nothing less than he deserves. He engaged in illegal activities, admitted to said acts, and is now facing the punishment for said activities.
What treatment is he recieving from the public that is not unfair?

I agree in one sense, Vick had an illegal hobby, Donaghy took bribes to blow calls and that went to the integrity of the sport. On the other hand, Vick was a household name before hand.

Hey, how'd you like to be one of Vick's pit bulls that just arrived at his kennels, being kicked in ribs for not attacking a little dog (that has his mouth taped), used as training bait. Then when you finally get the idea that you will be beat to death if you don't chew the throat out of the little dog -you tear it up and eat it because that's all you get to eat. Then, what is your reward...Fight fierce teeth gouging pits again and again and even though your face is half chewed off you must win or die, cause if you lose and don't die you will have a slow "hanging" death - and the life will slowly go out of your eyes- while the audience is laughing at you. That's torture my friend. Anyone that makes an excuse (NAACP & Vick fans) for this is a sick, sadistic, and a cruel human that should be locked away before their violence tendencies kill a human!

a) The NFL regular season games get higher ratings than the NBA finals...
b) Mike vick has some kind of public persona ie a shoe deal from nike, the face of the Atlanta falcons, ya know like a million kids idolizing every thing that he says and does
c)Vick torture, had rape tables, killed, maimed and generally abused "helpless" dogs, not shaved a couple points off a game or two (which vick may have done, he was in with known illegal gamblers and very very inconsistent, or maybe he was overratted)

dogfighting is an evil thing- and vick has admitted to doing it. sorry, but he's not being treated unfairly in any way.
Donaghy is being slammed too, but not as many people watch the NBA. he gambled, sure, but he didn't kill anyone. most of what he did was change the pointspead- not the actual outcome of the game.
Basically, what Vick did was much more serious.
