I'm assuming you mean players who weren't highly regarded coming out of college or didn't play college ball at all...you could say..Vince Papale who won a open competition to play for the Eagles, or go with guys who were drafted real late or signed priority free agent contracts like....Tom Brady, Marques Colston, Rod Smith, Kurt Warner, Jake Delhomme, Antonio Gates, Tony Romo. You can easily look through every NFL roster and find someone

Trent Dilfer....

C'mon, he came from Fresno St, and was the Starting QB for the super-bowl champion Ravens.

Kurt Warner, Tom Brady, Curtis Martin, Jake Delhomme, are also good choices.

Marc Bulger, from WVU. went around on several teams before finally landing a spot on the rams roster. now is the starting QB and a one of the premire QB's in the league. had 4,000+ yds passing and 24td/8int last season. and still not many people know of him, because the rams went 8-8 last season not mant think of him as a great QB, but you have to watch him play to see how good this guy really is.

Drew Brees definitly comes to mind first(what a great comeback story). John Elway is the picture of persistence in my book though. He lost a number of Super Bowls before winning 2 in a row. I had him just about written off, but he proved me wrong and turned out to be a winner.

Michael Lewis (the receiver, not the safety) who played for the Saints, went from shipping beer to playing wideout to shipping beer again. Same with Joe Horn, 3 bucks, a Jerry Rice video, and a few independent leagues and he's in the NFL.
