i went to labor and delivery today due to a decrease in fetal movement, they monitored me and the baby was ok but they didnt seem to be considered about my blood pressure. It was 107 / 71 when i got there (it is usually about 90/60) and right before they discharged me it was 112 / 82 and i had a massive headache, well it has been 5 hours and my head is still killing me and i had my MIL check my blood pressure and it is still high. Should i go back to L and D?? Why werent they worried about my blood pressure? i thought they wouldve waited for it to decrease but instead it went up and they didnt seen to care.

Because it's not that high, and it's perfectly normal (and expected) for your blood pressure to go up toward the end of pregnancy. It'll also go up if you get stressed, so try to calm down. Keep monitoring yourself though!! If it doesn't level out or come back down, call them. How are your hands and ankles? Any sudden swelling? If so then *definitely* go back.

I don't mean to scare you but recently I had a friend who is 32 weeks pregnant and had terrible headaches and it turned out to be viral meningitis (spelling?) I'm not sure if she had problems with her blood pressure or not...and I'm not one to discuss that stuff as mine when I was pregnant was usually 140/90. My friend and her baby are perfectly fine now by the way. You may want to call your doctor and tell him what is going on. They will most likely have an after hours number you can call and tell them. They can tell you whether or not you should go back to the hospital.

Your blood pressure isnt even high. I had a pressure of 180/110 and they didn't do anything but monitor me with my last pregnancy. Increased hormones are a huge culprit of headaches in pregnancy. I am on medication for headaches due to my pregnancy. I am 27 weeks along. If you notice vision changes, numbness, tingling, speech difficulties etc, then yes, by all means, go back.

your blood pressure is normal. Just because you usually run 90/60 doesnt mean 112/82 is high. That's normal according to the doc's. I assume your taking tylenol, ask the doc if you can take Ibuprophen, My doc allowed me to take that only as a last resort . and it didnt hurt my baby since I didnt take it all the time.

normal blood pressure is around 120/80....they don't even start to get concerned about anyone until the bottom number passes 90...so you are perfectly fine.
and they would probably just watch you at the 90 point, they wouldn't consider you to have pre eclampsia until you get closer to the bottom number being 100...that is what they are looking for, and since you were only 82 they were def not concerned and you shouldn't be either.

I would go back and not leave until they explain what needs to happen before you come back again if there is nothing wrong. Although your pressure is not high, the headache has potential problems (though that is pretty normal, too.)

Call your doc's answering service and ask them to get him on the line for you. You can tell him what is going on and then he'll tell you what you should do. There should be a doctor on call 24/7 even if it's not who you're used to seeing.

Instead of driving up there can you call a hospital nurse and explain the situation to her/him and see what they say. They might have an explaination for what you are feeling/going through or they might ask you to go in. If they don't have a nurse to talk to call your doctor or the doctor on call and see what they have to say.

You blood pressure is not high. High is way more than what you have. Don't self diagnose - go back if you are concerned.

You BP is well within the normal range..........I would venture a guess that you're under extreme tension and that's the cause of your headache.............Glad to hear that the baby is OK.........That's great news........Try, if at all possible, to relax......Have you eaten today???.........A good meal might help ease the headache.............CAT
