Vick made a plea bargain.
That means had he gone to trial, they would have thrown even more stuff at him, he would have been convicted, sentenced for an even longer period, had a big fine, more court costs, etc.
Vick is already getting off easier than he would have had he not reached an agreement.
Vick deserves everything he is getting.
His story is rags to riches.
Huge contract with Falcons.
Multiple product endorsements.
Then he got caught in the whole dog fighting/torturing/killing enterprise, and lied to Goodell's face.
People who will exhibit cruelty to animals have been shown to show cruelty to humans later. It is a part of the progressiveness of human nature.
No sympathy from me.
Throw the book at him.
Throw the entire library at him.
And go after every other dog fighting ring in the country.

Why should Vick be spared jailtime for a crime that is punished by jailtime? Is it because he has a multimillion dollar networth? If I were to start a dog fighting ring and participated in the killing of dogs who did not fair well over the course of six years, I would not receive a light fine and one year suspension from my job.
Why should Vick be unfairly treated by being rewarded a light fine, short suspension from his job, and zero jail time? If I, or your, the asker, were to commit similar, or ever slightly lesser acts, we would not be treated that way.
Vick is not being treated unfairly. He is being treated the way he should be. If anything, as a role model and spokesman for the NFL and Nike, he should be treated more severely. Is this the lesson you want people to learn? If you do the crime, don't expect to do the time if you're loaded with cash?

No ur an idiot.. He killed animals he trained them to fight and hurt and he killed animals. he should be suspended form the nfl for life, and serve the maximum time in jail. He isn;t allowed to play football anymore because he is an idiot. he makes like 30m a year, so a thousand doller fine would do nothing.. People think he is being treated to harshly because he is a star but he should be treated harder because of it not give him sympathy when a normal person would be sent to jaikl and NO ONE would argue this for a normal person.. Vick should have the same things done to him that he did to the dogs. he committed a felony. and as the rule states will be perminatly banned from football cfl nfl and anythign else for good. andi m glad he deserves it at LEAST.

No way in hell.
I think that too many pro athletes feel they are above the law, and because they are rich, they can simply pay the fine, use their celebrity to do their "community service", and a year suspension is like a vacation for them. Someone needs to show them that they too are held accountable for their actions. Because they have so many advantages, in order for it to "hurt" one needs to punish them more.
Besides - he violated RICO - federal racketeering laws. He could be spending a long time in prison just for that. He's lucky that everyone is so focused on the dog fighting charges. Personally, I think they ought to go after him for the racketeering violations. That is more than a slap on the wrist.
And he should be banned from the NFL for the appearance of impropriety in relations to gambling. I mean, let's be real here, folks. The man chose to break the law, and he got caught. Let him swing and take what is coming. He knew what could happen if he got caught, but chose to do it anyways. Let him get what is coming.

Eat your pig, eat your chicken, eat your fish, eat your cow, eat your cat, eat your dog...yum, yum, yum.
I for one love barbecued dog. If you have never eaten barbecued Labradors, you are missing out. I had to go to Taiwan for that.
I think that Michael Vic's dogs should be roasted or barbecued and they should hold a big party. By the way, what is wrong with what Michael Vick did? It seems extremely hypocritical to charge him but let everyone in our food industry go free.
His dogs were treated no worse than the gazillion animals in America that are grown for food. What's the difference? And don't tell me that the difference is that his actions were illegal while the actions of the food industry are legal. We all know that. The question is an ethical one, not a legal one.

It would be more than a couple thousand, probably a couple million, and banning him from owning dogs, along with the community service and years suspension.

The NFL Commish is trying to make an example outta Vick and to show that the NFL is very ethical, and will not stand for any OUTRAGEUS behavior such as what I've read on testimonies and in the newspaper.

The fate that befalls most people convicted of animal cruelty is far less severe than what's being discussed for Vick. Most animal cruelty cases, IF PROSECUTED, end up in hundreds of dollars of fines, and maybe probation. Certainly not federal prison.

Are you kidding? He was running a full-fledged criminal organization like the Mafia! He was about to get slapped with a RICO violation like the Mafia - that's why he plead out. He would have served 20 years! What is a fine to Vick? NOTHING!

Nope, I don't agree. He participated in these heinous acts of abuse and torture of dogs for over SIX years. He should pay a GREAT penalty for this. There aren't many people who want to turn on the TV on Sundays to watch a football game and look at the face of a man who reminds them of starved, beaten, drowned, hung, shot, dead puppies. For those of us who go to games and spend our money on NFL products, many of us do NOT want one red cent of our money to go into the pocket of this monster.
Community service? Please.....No one wants to look at this monster.
