My favorite player was Mattingly, but Id have to say Roger or Jeter. They got the rings to show for it.

Ken Phelps, Shane Rawley, Bobby Meachum, and Rick Cerone.

This is the heart of the Yankees.

And I agree, #1 Yankees fan has proven time and time again that realistically, they no little to nothing about baseball. A pure bandwagon fan with no sense of the past.

Jeter is historically clutch. He has risen to the challenge on numerous occasions over the last 11 years.

Jeter. He has class, talent, he's a real leader and in the clutch, he gets the job done. He doesn't trash talk anyone, keeps out of trouble and doesn't spit every few seconds like everyone else! That's just gross! Oh, and did I mention he's SOOOOO CUTE???

Pretty sad when someone who calls himself #1 Yankees fan doesn't have Mattingly in his top ten, especially since he should be #1.

Anyone that says different doesn't

A-understand that Steinbrenner is an idiot who put a crap team together

B-know one goddamned thing about baseball.

The two best modern era Yankees in my book - Ron Guidry and Reggie Jackson. Did more to help their team win than any I've seen.

Jeter.

Anyone who claims Mattingly was a great leader must be asked, to what did he ever lead the team?

Donnie Baseball - Don Mattingly. Thurman Munson should have been up there but was killed tragically in a plane crash.

Donnie Baseball no doubt. If he hadn't hurt his back he would be in the hall of fame. He was the best fielding 1st baseman I have evr seen. A lifetime .300+ hitter he had all the tools. He came up one season short of winning a World Series.
