Its not only a matter or age, but also style and setting. Don't wear stilettos to a funeral, to the grocery store etc. Also take into account height and type of shoe. This question is more complicated than you think! Age wise it depends on the shoe, but for formal occasions 14 is okay granted its a lower heel.

Like the answerer above said, your feet are still growing, so you shouldn't start wearing them to the mall and out to casual meals until around 15/16. Even then, stillettos in those settings is weird and can be tacky. Lower heels can be worn at around 13/12. I would think that weddings, being a special occasion, and nice dinners would be appropiate places to wear stillettos.

I'd say a good age is 15 or 16 is a good age. But if you wear heels appropriately than I don't see a reason not to at any younger age.

1] routinely, you should not wear heels until your feet are done growing.
2] for special occasions, like weddings, dances, at least 13 for low heels; and high school for stilettos.

I think you can start wearing them at any age provided the following:
1. You really want to.
2. The shoes are good quality and do not hurt your feet.

High heels have the ability to make you feel pretty and feminine, and you should not be deprived of that simple pleasure. I think you should wear them as soon as you have that natural and admirable desire to be feminine and beautiful.

If you want my oppinion, wait as long as you think you can get away with it before you start wearing those things. Stilletos are torture chambers for the feet. But if you insist on wearing them, make sure to start small with it and wear them for short durations of time while your feet get used to them. Even low heels can cause undue pain at first if you're not accostomed to so much of your bodyweight being focused toward the balls of your feet. Stilletos make that ten times worse. Definitely wait untill your feet are done growing before you decide to embark upon your journey to full womanhood by enduring this paricular trail by pain. (There are plenty of other excruciating practices for the sake of beauty and fashon-fowardness that you can choose from in the meantime.) Besides, this way you won't have to run out and buy new pairs every few months. Stilletos aren't cheap.

With that said, I'll tell you an interesting story about the origin of high-heeled shoes. Heels were first worn in the 1700's and the trend was started by the French (who else?). But the most interesting thing is the fact that they were originally worn by men. They were worn for the purpose of adding height to the wearer AND to round out and excentuate the wearers buttox so that they'd look even better in pants. As time went on, the heels of the shoes got taller and taller, since tall was in. Seeing as the women didn't wish to fall behind in fashon, they began to wear these ridiculous shoes as well. So when your feet are in agony and you find yourself hobbling to the nearest bench at the mall thanks to these fashon-foward abominations, blame the French.
