The roof of the attic and from the peak to the attic and then the floor of the attic form a right tirangle. You can then use:

c^2 = a^2 + b^2

Distance from eave to peak = c = 7m
Height at peak = b = 3m

Length = a = SQRT(7^2 - 3^2) = SQRT(40)
Length = 6.33 meters
