Shouldn't innocent persons walking on the street be protected from smoke that could come out of people's residences? What if smokers leave their windows open?

Yes to apartments for sure because you are renting for one so technically it's not yours and when you move out the new tenants will have to endure the stench because even with scrubbing and steam cleaning there is still some odor left. Also you have neighbors either above, below, or next to you and the smoke travels into their apartment which is not fair that they have to breathe someone elses disgusting habit. So then we have to close our windows to escape it.
Also smokers want the freedom to smoke where ever they want and for others to be considerate of their freedom then they in turn should be considerate of the people around them that don't smoke.

I think that's really pushing it. There are other dangerous things in the air besides cigarette smoke escaping from peoples' houses. I think the amount that gets out really isn't enough to harm anyone. There isn't enough smoke in the air to harm people when smokers smoke on their porch or outside of their houses. Also, it would be an infringement on freedom. We've got enough of those, I'd hate to add any.

Your not making much sense. If they ban smoking inside the homes then the people will have go outside to smoke. This means the smokers will be right on the sidewalk, porch, or stoop. So when you walk by them the smoke will still be outside. Just like if they left their windows open. So what's the difference?

Really? You really think that someone's smoke from inside their house will contaminant the outdoor air? Seems that you'd be more worried about industrial smoke, but whatever.

My answer, is no. I think people should be able to smoke whatever they like in their own homes.

go find a tree give it a hug and get of the internet i hate people like you i mean damn its getting to the point where i wont even be able to smoke in my own home anymore becasue of liberal bunny kissing bambi humping sandal wearing tree hugers like you i am tired of hearing about things like this so why not go live in a tree house somewhere but make sure that you keep everythig to yourself dont go to the supermarket or buy food anywhere because a smoker could have handled it

Shut up.....why in the world would you do that? Okay, if smokers can't smoke in their homes, then you guys can't drink when I am out at bars. Is that a fair compromise? You can't be serious about that, can you?
