= (8 - 7) + (2x - 8x)
= 1 + (- 6x)
= 1 - 6x

You can only add or subtract common things. 2x and -8x are common, and -7 and +8 are the same.
So, you rearrange it to be this:
2x -8x -7 +8

Then you solve it, solving each pair at a time.

2x -8x equals -6x. You have to make sure to keep the x.

-7 +8 equals 1.

Therefore, the answer is: -6x+1
You can't solve it anymore because the two numbers are not common.
