Melting is a physical change because the composition of water does not change. In both its solid and liquid forms, water is composed of H2O.

It is physically a chemical change but what do I know, I am six months old and I need a Diaper change. Don't melt the ice , put it in a cocktail.

It is a physical change because the change does not result in a new substance or chemical compund being formed. In order for a chemical change to take place, a new substance must be formed

meting ice is a physical change since its physical state is changing from solid to liquid. it cannot be a chemical change because its chemical composition remains the same (h2o)

melting, freezing, boiling etc are change of state
ie from one state of matter to another
liquid state , solid state , gaseous state.

any change of state do not give rise to new compound being formed - so it is a physical change.

It's physical. It has to change color to be chemical.

physical, since the water remains the same. the only difference is the amount of heat in it, thus affecting it's lattice structure when it is ice versus a liquid.
