Yeah, I know that sounds a bit drastic but I've been thinking heavily on it. His name is Eduardo Enrique as of now, but nobody ever calls him that, even my father (who is Mexicano and doesn't speak english well). If you ask Eddie what his name is he'll either say "Dee" or "Id" (he's hearing impaired so his speech ain't all that great). I want to change it to its english counterpart, Edward Henry. What do ya'll think?

Email or IM (madmajito), don't matter to me.

Thanks,
Max

I should have made this a bit clearer in the original post; Eduardo Enrique is his first and middle names. Sorry about that ya'll.

If your son and his father are okay with changing his name, than go for it. Its expensive though- about $500.

I think you should leave it...you don't get much of a change between Eduardo and Edward and I have always loved Enrique (I know Henry means the same thing but Enrique just sounds so much better)

Especially if your hispanic, Edward Henry just sounds like a straight white-boy name. There is nothing wrong with him not using his real name anyways, nicknames are fine.

Don't change his name. I think Eduardo Enrique is a fine name. Call him Ed. He is trying to say Ed or Eddie now with his pronounciation of his own name. Changing his name to Edward Henry is not going to change how he hears his name, especially if you call him Eddie.
What does his grandfather call him?
You don't say how old your son is now.
My grandson could not say his name well until he was 3.
Hope you make the right decision for your son.

I live in Mexico City and everyone here just uses their English name anyway. Save yourself the money luv.

Edward is old fashioned. A name of royalty. Edward is stuffy and having heard you use ya'll I just don't think you can carry it off. Not many can.

Eduardo is mysterious and Lalo is terrific. Fun and intelligent.

Don't change it. You had a winner to start with.

If he thinks that it's ok for you to change his name than that's fine. I think that his FIRST name only should have just Edward and his middle name Enrique. I like Enrique better than Henry personally.

First I would consider the child's age... I mean if he's speaking already he's at least what 18+ months you would just confuse him .. due to his hearing he may not be able to say it correctly however I'm sure he understands his name. For the sake of the child I would not do it.. Continue to call him Eddie... But if you want to change it I wouldn't criticize you either

You could just call him Eddie. When he's is school he (or you) can tell his teacher he goes by Eddie or Edward Henry. If you decide to change it legally I wouldn't criticize you for it.

Change it to an American name like Edward.

do you really want to legally change his name though? You could just call him that, but still have his legal name the same.

How old is your child? It may confuse him if you try to explain that situation to him.

If you decide to legally change his name thats fine, because it is completely up to you, but just give it some serious thought. Not only could it be confusing but very COSTLY.

Best of luck!
