we have a male dutch rabbit and once in awhile he slams both feet against the bottom of his cage and jumps, making a loud noise, he does it a few times then stops, hes not unhappy or mistreated, ive just wondered why he does this, he did it once when i was yelling out the door for my dog everytime i yelled the bunny would make the slamming noise in his cage, it was funny, but does anyone know what this behavior means?

Stomping. It indicates what the rabbit perceives to be "danger". It can also be a sign of dominance or anger, and occasionally sexual excitement.

It's a warning sound for other rabbits. He did it to warn 'friends' that something was dangerous or wrong, so maybe the yelling was enough to trigger this.

I worked with someone who had a pet rabbit that they let out of the cage about 3/4 of the day. When they wanted him to leave the television cord alone they'd stomp once on the floor and he'd back off. Feet thumps are like dog barks, a warning to others.

They do that when they are scared. Your rabbit is probably afraid of loud noises, like most are. Move him to a quieter area of the house if he does it often. It is possible for rabbits to break their own legs from stomping too much or too hard.

I have a male dutch rabbit to and he does that when he wants to get exercise so take it out for awhile and let it hop around

Rabbits do that to get your attention. I had a rabbit and he would do that when I left the room.

it means that he is startled or scared, its like an instinct to warn other rabbits. either that or he wants to get rid of some energy.
