They want to give me money from a dead guy with no family. I've gotten 5 or so from many countries. Does anyone know what this scam is?

it is a scam and do not fall for it -- but every day millions are contacted and lets say they get 1/2 or 1% it worth while == best way is to just screen you calls -- now if i am really bored -i some times get them on the line for 1 hour so asking them dumb questions and putting them on hold!!!

The scam has been around for many years. Best thing to do is not open unsolicited email from unknown senders. It's all spam or scams. There is absolutely nothing of any value. Just delete it all unopened. If you open it, they know they have a live email addy and you'll get even more.

Oh and don't bother trying to report it to the authorities. They don't want it. I think they only take reports if someone is stupid enough to send them money.

Oh, and you didn't win the lottery either. And there is no job receiving checks, cashing them, and wiring 90% overseas.

Yeah dateline did this great journalist thing on it. I will look it up and post the link.

Deal is they say they cant get the money, get your phone number and email. Then they will say okay we need you to transfer 500 bucks for a soliciter, they will give him some kewl government name. Then if you send that, they keep going up and up and up.

They do it because people are either desperate enough, they just want to believe it. Its normally the people that can afford it the least that get scammed.

Dont fall for it. Its a scam.

Here is the dateline link. Its exactly what you just described, but they followed it and did an hour show on it. You can watch the entire thing online. Its worth watching for anybody who hasnt seen it.

The first time I got one of those I was like "wow" finally my lucky day. Then I remembered I don't have any lucky days. I started to get them daily. And knew it was crap. These are foreign rip off artists mainly from Nigeria. You will here story's like you said from dead guy or oil fortune or international lottery. Trust me its garbage. They try to access your computer and personal bank info. Hope this helps,
PS: If anyone was giving away oil riches the Antichrist Bush/Chaney administration would have sucked it up already!

cause they want you to get rich lol j/k

just delete and report them as spam.

--------------------------
Here is how you can tell if it's a Scam...
Do they tell you to use wire/bank transfer services or to cash a check?
Is it unsolicited?
Asking for personal information? from overseas? Spam Emails? 2 good to be true??
Block phone numbers? Free email addresses(ex yahoo, hotmail) ?
If yes, it's a scam!!!
