First, don't put so much pressure on yourself. Few things in life must be perfect. Just relax and before you get up to read, put your mind at ease by thinking of something you enjoy, not on what you have to read.....then, while you read, block out the instructor......focus on the assignment as if you were in your favorite place and no one will be critical of you.

I have the same problem. Tell your teacher that you have difficulty reading aloud when someone is listening to you. Ask him if you could record yourself reading and give him the tape. If he doesn't allow you to do so, pretend that he's not in the room while you are reading. Take a deep breath before you start. Take your time and pause at every comma and period. Follow the text with your finger so you don't lose your place. If you know what the extract will be, practise as much as possible ahead of time.

Good luck!

The first thing you have to do is deal with the intimidation factor. Don't let him do it to you. While you are reading, you have the control, use it.

Secondly, if you know what you are going to read, stand in front of a mirror, and read it. If you have a tape recorder, or some other recording device, record it, then, when you are done, play it back and see how it sounds to you.

Don`t read to him. Read to your mom, or your little sister, or
to your friend who only understands english when you read it.
Pretend that your teacher isn`t in the room and you are reading to one of the above.
Practice doing this at home while someone is yelling or with your friends.
