what is the impact of the author's choice to write the majority of the novel as a flashback?

It allows Victor to have the opportunity to reflect on what has happened. Although his view is distorted and he sees himself as a victim to the very end. Shelley wanted you to see that he never really feels any remorse for what he did. Pax - C
