In my view, the ROOT-CAUSE is as follows

We want to judge and know other people as well as objects and situations because we believe knowledge improves security.... for the same reason, we do not like others to judge us as we believe that it reduces our comparative security vis-a-vis the other who judges us.

More often than not, when people judge, they feel the position of power or superiority. It's a more enjoyable feeling than being judged as the opposite is less enjoyable.
When one is being judged, one feels in a lesser position besides, one grows up being judged all the time and chances are one receives more negative comments than position encouragement. Hence QED your statement.

To have ones opinion validated. It is the "Ask me. My opinion is valid/important" desire. It is sometimes the idea that if the judged has more defects than the judge, then the judge is better than the judged! To feel self important in comparison and to exert perception skills(Showing off)!

It is a human need of growth in social status(competitiveness) and self assurance through comparison!

It is because every human being is a judge by a nature but we never judge ourselves.

We like to judge to assert our ego, or rather ,it is the ego that asserts. It is a boost to the ego.

We do not like being judged as it deflates the ego, since we judge ourselves, but not others, by what we feel capable of doing , while others judge us by what we have already done.

Often the people doing the judging have a lower opinion of themselves and try to cover it up by trying to make themselves look better than others. Or the judge because they feel the same way about themselves deep down inside.

Other times they feel miserable inside and misery loves company, so they try to drag others down to their level than try to make themselves look better to others than they really feel about themselves inside.

We don't like to be judged because it is a negative, it is used to tear a person down and devalue them. Everyone wants and needs to be valued. It makes us feel bad about ourselves and builds low self-esteem.
