Exactly my problem! I think milk is okay.. just don't think.
Oh yeah don't eat before you sleep, be more active in the day, and a warm bath. If that doesn't work...move to the couch turn on the tv,(low volume) A channel that you like. Then close your eyes. Read if you want. I know I'm like way too old for this but for some reason I like watching the "Good night Show" I think it bores me to sleep or something but it's comforting.

You can read a chapter in your fave book once you get comfortable or, like i do, i stay on the computer and i get relaxed to the point of almost falling asleep at the desk. i am always on Answers looking up questions and it's relaxing when you read a few, and a few responses. try it sometime.

as for milk, yeh it needs to be warm cuz a good chemical is released in the milk when it is warmed which is known to help people sleep. also hot herbal tea too.

hope this helps!

Warm milk is not as good as herbal tea, like chamomile and spearmint. Bananas are good if you have leg cramps. The best thing is a warm bath or shower and have your plan (clothes, supplies, etc..) ready. This will help you relax and sleep well every night.

Milk is supposed to be good, I have always heard warm. Reading puts me out in 5 minutes. I don't know about bananas tho.

I have a set schedule. I get up at 5 a.m. every day and I go to bed about 11 p.m. every night. All day long I am doing something. Swimming, walking, running, etc. Then you add in the activites I am doing to wear my children out, I am usually very exhausted by the end of the day. I also try to avoid caffiene at all costs.

I like to take a shower to relax and then just make myself lay still in bed and meditate or read a book. That way even if you can't sleep you will be doing the next most relaxing things. This should wind you down though.

I have always hear that you should drink warm milk, i usually drink milk at night if i wake up during the night and can't go back to sleep.
When I have problems falling to sleep i like to listen to music turned down real low.

Benadryl always knocks me out. Try two 25mg tablets 30 minutes before you want to fall asleep. Also, melatonin seems to work but I personally stear slear of this one since it is a hormone and I'm not a fan of messing with one's hormones.

I've also heard taking a warm shower before bed. The cooling effect can make your body sleepy. Lastly, try reading a book. There are a ton of things I'd like to learn and have a stack of literature next to my bed, but I can't complete more than a chapter before my eyes get heavy.

A nice warm bath maybe. Really, just getting in the habit of going to bed early helps a lot.
