Sit down with your mum and list all the bills per month and find out exactly what you should pay and why then come to some sort of deal with her. If you help clean/garden as well that should cover some areas instead of paying dollars.
If this works out that she wants all your money lol, then work on some fair percentage so you at least know what you have left per month/week. Food wise can be per day eg $10 a day then when you arent there visiting friends etc you have that money to help out with an overnight/holiday stay.
If you are a student your mum should be helping you so you can get a fulltime job, and money you give her is a bonus as what would she do if you left home.But help with lots of chores.
If your are grown up and have a good job you should be working on the fact that you are "renting" as if your would share a flat or house with others etc.and in that case arent responsible for certain things like council rates.
Check out what your friends or workmates do to get a clear guidline and look in the "rent section" in the paper and ring and find out how much you are responsible for, by pretending you are interested.

You don't state if the $350 a month you are paying is contributing to the bills of the household, or does that $350 pay your personal bills, such as cell phone, inter net, auto insurance, clothing, etc. I do hope that you are giving your mom some money to help her with living expenses, that you also benefit from. I know that you love mom, but what you have to do is put in your head and think about is,what if something happen to mom how will I make it? Now sence you hear me go out and get your own place or a room mate and than youi will see how mom lived be fore you get a job to give here money. Perhaps your mother is encouraging you to get out of her house. $350 is pretty cheap living. You probably consume more food and utilities than that every month.
