People often say I ate at a takeaway place a few hours ago and then got sick. I got food poisoning. That is not necessarily true. Although many people want to associate their discomfort with the last meal they ate because that's the meal that came back up, you can't make that assumption.
Incubation periods for the bacteria and viruses that cause food-borne illnesses range from several hours to several weeks. For most types of food-borne illness the time elapsed between ingestion and symptoms will be 24 to 72 hours. It could have been something you ate two days ago.

If you really had gotten food poisoning from a restaurant there would be other reports. The only true way to know if you got food poisoning is to go to the doctor. He will take stool and urine samples and pinpoint exactly what the problem is.

Over 75% of the time when a consumer thinks they got fast food from a restaurant they actually gave it to themselves at home. '
Most average people do not use proper food handling techniques and quite often give themselves food poisoning without even knowing it. At a restaurant you have state certified (and hopefully) state licensed restaurant managers on staff to watch for things that would cause food poisoning. At home most people do not know these principals or do not follow them. I am surprised when I go to friends or family's houses how many things I see them do or items in their fridge or freezer that could cause food poisoning. Also, one thing most people don't realize is that except for a couple very particular strains of food-borne illnesses, most do not show up right away. So, if you ate at a restaurant at lunch and feel ill at 2pm, it was probably something you ate yesterday, or in some cases, even a week ago.

I got food poisoning from a Boston Market. Before then, I ate there a good two times a week. After that, I stayed away from them for a couple of years. Later, I was craving one of their salads so I tried walking into a different location. But I wasn't able to order. I was halfway to the counter when my stomach started turning. I felt sick and had to run out. I guess the memory of food poisoning was just too much to bare!

Ok, so I've never vomited from eating fast food, but I have gotten horrible stomach aches and such. I can no longer eat at Arby's, KFC, Pizza Hut, or Boston Market. I don't know why. Everytime I eat there, I feel horrible for the rest of the day. Because of this I don't eat fast food anymore at all. I feel healthier because of it too. I probably haven't eaten fast food for 2 years.

If you don't like fast food, then don't eat it. Let other people eat what they want. I've never gotten sick from eating fast food, but I have gotten sick from eating at nice restaurants. People can get sick from eating anywhere.

Also, everybody knows that it isn't healthy to eat fast food all the time, but if you want to eat fast food every once in a while because you like it, then why not? It's all about moderation. Let people do what they want. I'm so sick of people slamming fast food all of the time. Fast food companies are not just these evil people wanting to make everybody fat. They are just meeting an economical demand for people who are hungry and want to eat delicious food quickly.

Actually I've gotten more sick from NON fast food restaurants, they're generally cleaner and less likely to serve you spoiled food, as the other regular restaurants have. If you don't want to get sick, make your own food and stay away from ALL restaurants.

I was constantly barfing all night long after eating KFC one night. I really didn't move away from the toilet, because every few minutes I'd barf, but eventually nothing, or hardly anything came out... It was just painful. It was horrible o.o

But it's no reason to avoid the restaurant. I've come to realize it's just luck. I've gotten sick from taco bell and burger king too, but only once from each. It's never been re-occurring.

Sure they have, I have, but I won't tell you which chain it was at because I am eating there again. It took me about 10 years to go back to them though.
I'm sure most every chain has saved a little something past it's expiration date in effort to save a little money, possibly even been ordered to do so by their management. Or bought some stuff that contained ecoli? sound failure it was recently in the news

I've been eating fast food for 50 years and haven't got sick off of it yet. Fat, yes. But not sick.
