In two weeks my Verizon contract expires in which my wife and I have a family shared plan. We want to switch to Cingular because I have purchased an iPhone. We want to keep our current telephone numbers. Also, my wife will not be getting an iPhone, just a regular phone.

Question - What is the process in doing this? Do we go into Cingular and establish a family plan and have them transport both of our telelphone numbers from Verizon? Can I even do that with mine or do I have to activate on iTunes? I'm worried that if my wife signs on first with a family plan that her number will port over, but mine will not. The reason we want to get her phone first is because we can get a free phone (Razr) for her if she signs a contract. Any help or guidance would be appreciated.

Thanks!

do not change your number till the contract date is over.
if you do it one day in advance of the end date you will pay the early ternimation fee.
becareful. do not let a store or cus person do this as they will screw it up on you.

cing will give you a temp number if you like then you agree to the porting of the numbers
