Can Cell charging damage phone?

Can charging your cell phone for too long damage the phone itself?

No, the new phones will automatically stop charging once the battery is charged. However if left plugged in they will monitor the battery for power loss and automatically trickle charge the battery when it starts losing power. So its not harmful to leave the phone plugged in for extended periods of time.
