I've noticed that many different teachers assign MANY assignments each night....what's your theory on why they assign so much crap for us to do until the middle of the night or later?

It is preparation for university. You will be doing much more homework in university. You should learn to be more efficient in how you do your work. I suggest reading a few days ahead in your class and take notes from the textbook, in your own words, as you do so. This will help you understand better what the teacher is talking about. Also, don't leave assignments until the last minute. If you do an assignment as soon as it is assigned, you are less likely to be overwhelmed at a later time.

Sometimes the students' behavior greatly diminishes the time that teachers can teach in class and there is a LONG list of things they have to teach by the end of the year. So one thing to do about it is assign what would have been done in class as homework.
Also, I agree with the time management comment. Part of teachers' jobs it to prepare students for the real world.

In my district the State Standards are like a holy book! We must hit all the major concepts and show a year's growth for the whole class. If I were to teach in a "meaningful" way, each subject has enough for at least two years but we cram it into the kids heads in one.
What I can't figure out is how come some teachers don't give homework and still are hired!
I know very few teachers who give homework out of spite..sorry yours does...because they are making more work for themselves if they are grading it!

do not hear to Joey! in case you want homework, merely ask the instructor after type for further credit artwork so your eagerness does not influence the different babies! additionally, bullying is attack, leagally. tell a instructor in college and tell your mothers and dads. make useful the bullies are punished, your mothers and dads can get the police in contact if the school do not manage it. whether you think of you are able to cope with the bullying, they're almost definatly choosing on somebody else who won't be in a position to handle it. you are able to help others by employing making it end.

we don't. We are just trying to teach you a technique called time management. It is very useful in the real world. I am sure you can handle it.
