im not sure if i can trully call myself a philosopher, but if i were qualified to cosider myself one, i wouldnt be a member of that so called-utopian society. i use my ideals to face reality with an optimistic light, not to walk blindly on elysian fields. But i do commend the idealists for imaginative thinking, for humanity would be coldly immobilized without them. We are told to never cross bridges till we come to it, but the world is owned by men who have crossed bridges in their imagination far ahead of the crowd.. they may have not crossed them eventually, but they have inspired other people to do so.
We are all dreamers but not all of us act upon wisely to obtain what we dream of, and some are content to simply dream... but all i know, that the best way to make our dreams come true... is to wake up....

it's a dream... but one kind of utopian society isn't for everyone... therefore, it isn't utopian.
Take the plot of Minority Report. Their form of Utopia was eliminating murder by means of pre-crime. But you can't arrest someone if they haven't committed the act yet... there's definitely a serious flaw there. Plus their methods of finding the criminal were inhumane. And then there's the story of A Brave New World, where humans are created in a tube rather than naturally. By doing this, an individual's future could be decided on their born intelligence. Superficially speaking, their structure and greed and love for lust is easily satiated, yet is it right?
All sorts of fiction can tell a story of a utopia that looks right on the outside, but internally there are always problems and it is never perfect. Which is why a Utopia will always be fictitious because we, as humans, cannot be perfect ourselves.

Food. The circle of life. Death.
Free will. Murder. Idiotic decisions. Idiots.
The Poor. The Rich. Work. Hard labor. Someone has to work. Some live in wealth.
Good looking people. Better looking people ( you're born with it ). Jealousy.
The closest to a Utopian Society would be communism right?
Everyone has the same thing , no one envies another?
A real Utopian society is where everyone is EXACTLY THE SAME. thinks the same, looks the same, acts the same... no conflict.

Real philosophers don't dream real considerations of utopia. They know it is impossible!
Scarcity is a fact of existence! Human imperfection is a fact of existence! Reality!!! Get over it! There is no nicer way of putting it without being false. Perfect Utopian Society is only a childish dream! Just like truly functioning communism... It is a foul disregard for the human condition.

a utopian society would at best be problematical, for this reason. A utopian society is one where all involved think the same way. as soon as someone changes their mind, utopia vanishes. As a people I believe that we all want a world that is the same for everyone, in terms of opportunity and or consequence. but for the masses of earth, with differing opinions on health, lifestyle, freedom, ect..., Utopia fades more into the background. hope this helps.

A Utopian society is not feasible. People given an option, prefer to sit in the wagon and let other people push them. Obviouly when enough people sit in the wagon and too few people push it, nothing happens.

Because the idea is a great idea but there will always be someone in power. Someone trying to create a Utopian Society ends up being a dictator. Hitler comes to mind...

It will remain a dream because even if everything was perfect, someone would stand up and question it. We have free will. You can't stop people from changing or growing, neither can you stop a society from doing the same.

Utopia cannot be achieved as it is hard to get everyone to have the same mindset in the first place, let alone try to make thier lives perfect. The first step to a good life is a change in mindset (positive, of course).

Well, as soon as technology catches up with us, we might have much less need for grunt labor of any kind. Most of the workforce will be in the service industries. :)
I mean, if large, semi-intelligent (programmed) robots can do complex work ... We might all be out of a job living in a utopia sipping margaritas in the sun.
Ahh futurism. Nano-technology is promising too.
