Try L-theanine, an amino acid found in green tea. It has a calming effect on the brain. The usual dose is 50-100mg taken on an empty stomach, two to three times daily. It creates a relaxing effect in approximately 30 to 40 minutes.

Also, 5-hydroxytrryptophan (5HTP), a form of the amino acid tryptophan, helps raise serotonin levels and boosts melatonin levels by 200 percent. The recommended dose is 100mg three times a day.

Chamomile tea and warm milk. Exercise in the mornings, and only do relaxing things in the evening. Don't eat too close to bed time, and go to bed at the same night every night. Just some tips I've picked up myself!

Warm milk...if you can stand it.... has tryptophan in it that produces a sleepy sensation in your body (turkey does as well...that's why everyone gets so sleepy afte Thanksgiving dinner). Relaxation exercises and CDs are especially helpful to me. I have also used melatonin and valerian root from health food stores. Various teas are available to help you rest as well...Celestial Seasons has a tea called "Sleepytime" that is nice.

i've had that problem lately too. i've resorted to a pm pain reliever. i take it about 1-2 hrs before bed. also, exercising can be a big help. if you google foods to help you sleep, lots of things will pop up. check them out. sweet dreams.
