School recently just started for me and I got my first period this year. The thing is, I have this early French program so I'm going to be away from my house from about 6 AM -2:10 PM. But I'll last be able to go to the bathroom at about 5:20. My question is should I be better off using a tampon or a pad or both to avoid leaking? My flow is moderate, like average, and I have the pads with wings. Will leaving the tampon in too long make me get TSS? That's what I heard. Also, I've only used tampons one time before. I can't go to the bathroom because the bathrooms in school don't have locks and are dirty and I'll have to use a pass. Please help me because I have to go to sleep soon! Thanks!

You should definitely use a tampon and a pad together. Both will begin leaking after about 8 hours, and you can't use the washroom for almost 12. If you have any Super tampons, use those along with a pad in case the tampon leaks because it might. Tampons are meant to be changed a few times throughout the day. TSS is also very rare among women now, even if they are caused by having a tampon in overnight, or just having them in too long in the day, the odds are, nothing will happen.

I would recommend trying to go to the restroom anyway to change. Either one requires you to change it at least every 8 hours (although 4 is better). Try to prop yourself against the door so no one can come in and squat over the toliet. You also shouldn't go this long without peeing either. Bladder infections hurt soo bad.

Tampons are amazing, but require some time to get used to. Once you get the hang of it, I swear you'll never go back.

Don't you get a lunch break or something? I would recommend changing then. Don't be embarassed about doing it either, everyone does it :)

I wouldn't leave a tampon in any longer than 2-4 hours.
I would use a pass & change your tampon more often or use a pad.

well i would use a tampon with a pantie liner and just change halfway through. Once i started using tampons i wanted to slap myself for not using them since day one...they are sooo much cleaner!!
