im tryna buy a cell phone which is originally $100 and it says minus $50 after mail in rebate which ends up being only 50 dollars instead of 100. so do i only have to pay $50?

A mail in rebate is an offer made by companies to encourage you to buy their product. For example, in your case you have to pay the full $100. When you purchase the phone, the store will give you paperwrok (it might be a copy of a reciept, etc) that tells you to include the purchase codes from the phone and the receipts you were given and mail them in. In usually 8-10 weeks (or whatever timeframe they give you), the company will send YOU a check for $50.
It's an incentive to get you to buy products through them.

You pay the original price up front. Then you have to mail in EVERY single thing they tell you, wait 6-8 weeks, and then you receive your rebate. With the cell phone, the rebate usually comes in the form of a gift card. Don't be in a hurry to receive it because you won't.

when you buy the cell look at the mail in rebate adress either on the box or the reciept
then follow the directions on there you know put the reciept in an envelope and all that and then once you send it to the company theyll send you back a 50 dollar check but itll prby take a month or two!!!!

no. you have to pay the $100 up front. Then they give you a "coupon" or paperwork of some kind to fill out. Here's the catch. You have to follow their "rules" exactly. SAVE every receipt, serial number, the box, every tag or sticker on the box. Save it all ! You would be surprised at what it takes to get a rebate ! BUT, it's worth it !

you will pay the full 100 when you go buy it. then you will have to take your reciept and whatever else they need and mail it to the company. then 6-8 weeks (usually) later you will get the 50$ check in the mail.

Initially you pay the hundred. You get a form with your purchase, which you fill out, and follow the instructions. Send it in to the company, and in six to eight weeks, you get a check for the fifty.
