Loretta Lynn because my mother is a coal miners' daughter. Her dad was killed in a mine cave-in. He had massive head injuries & died a couple of days later. She was just a teenager. She said that the song "Coal Miners' Daughter" describes life just like it was for her growing up.

I am a huge Dolly Parton fan. I remember watching her variety show. Also, I live in East Tennessee not far from where she is from and Dollywood is also close by here. Dolly has done a lot of good work for this area. Many people outside of TN are unaware of the literacy program she founded for children in Sevier County (where she was born), and it has spread though out the state. All children regardless of income that sign up for the program are given 1 book per month from birth until 5 years old.

All the ladies you mention are wonderful women. I am also partial to Loretta Lynn -- she dared to sing about things before it was "PC" to talk about such things.....I cannot remember the name but her song about the pill. Anyway....
Peace.

Tough.
Dolly Parton probably. She is such a awesome songwriter, singer and personality.
Loretta Lynn would be right up there also for similar reasons.
They both certainly have made an impact on the world of music - not just country music.

Dolly Parton because she could swing from sad ballad to sassy rockabilly in an instant.

Loretta Lynn. Why she wasn't afraid to speak her mind and she has some great songs, then 5o plus years in to her career she makes a awesome cd, Van Lear Rose and sings with Jack White. That is awesome.

I also love Tammy. Great voice, died way to young :(
