I'm a huge Microsoft fan but I downloaded Firefox a while back and haven't used Internet Explorer since. I love Firefox 2 and all the extensions and add-ons.

Firefox doesn't give you spyware - the web sites you visit give you spyware. Download and install the following programs to help protect your PC:
Adaware is free at http://www.lavasoftusa.com
Spybot Search and Destroy is free at http://www.safer-networking.org/en/download/index.html
and SpywareBlaster is free at http://www.javacoolsoftware.com/spywareblaster.html
download and install them all. I use them all and I have had no trouble with viruses or spyware in over a year.

Firefox is one of the upper crust internet browsers that doesn't get much spyware (IE is a different story), so try some other browsers (like Netscape, Safari, and Opera) and see if that helps. I hope that helps.
Good luck!

i'm also a firefox user and i haven't experienced any spyware intrusion unlike i.e. so, you should try downloading it again.if the spyware is still there, try downloading spyware terminator or get a good virus scanning program such as nod or antivir. good luck and i hope you will enjoy firefox like we, other users, are having.

Firefox does NOT give you spyware. The spyware is likely already on your computer. Install a good virus scanner / spyware killer.

Firefox does not have spyware. However, if you believe you have spyware, there are free programs on the web to remove spyware.
Such as

http://www.lavasoftusa.com/

all i use is firefox, never had a problem with it. I hate IE with a passion, and love Mozilla. I would try it out again, might have just been a fluke last time.

Sounds to me like your machine is already highly compromised. That is, your problems are probably not browser dependent.
Certainly others don't have the same degree of difficulty you are having with viri and spyware with firefox that you are having.
Might I suggest an operating system that is less prone to these kinds of problems?
I recommend replacing it with one of:
http://fedora.redhat.com
http://www.opensuse.org
http://www.debian.org
http://www.ubuntu.org
http://www.slackware.org
http://www.freebsd.org
http://www.opensolaris.org
Any of these will be more reliable, less susceptible to
viri, uses your hardware more efficiently, and they're
all free.
