Most vegetarians say that they would never eat anything with a face. As any mathematics proffessor will tell you, 'a' implies one whole, (i.e. 'a' banana, 'a' duck') Thus, since animal crackers display only one half of the animal's face, they do not count and are an acceptible form of sustenance for vegetarians.
