Great songwriters have a lot of life experience, and have made many friends. Great musicians know the value of hard work and study.
I think you should reconnect with your friends, and work as hard as you can to ace everything in high school. Don't just survive...blow everyone's expectations of you away. Nobody knows what the future will bring, and it's best to create as many options as you can. JMO

I have a son who thinks the same way you do and I have to agree myself to a point. There is not much that I learned in high school that I use today. I mean I read, I do math but I didn't learn that in high school. I wanted to drop out my senior year, but I didn't. I looked into getting my GED which you can do as well. But dropping out just puts you that much closer to the reality outside of those school walls and its not always great. There are a zillion people out there who want to be musicians or actors, so you had better be good. I don't know what state you live in, maybe they have a work for credit program, my school did. Of course there is another reality, sometimes you have to do things you don't ******* like because there is no alternative. You will see a lot of that once you get out of school, it sucks but that's the way life is sometimes.
Maybe you might want to think about making a small change in your attitude. Music is great, I love it, but its not all that life is about. There has to be more music junkies than just you at your school. What about putting a band together with some kids that think the same at your school or one nearby??
I wish I had some great answer for you, if I did, I would have one for my kid as well. Good luck to you.

Join the whatever music group is for what you play. That way you'll meet people who share the same interests and make friends who'll stop you from killing yourself :D
You'll live. If you really can't stand it, go talk to the teacher about extending the deadline. Mention something about having other work to do, you're really trying, and you also compose your own songs.
I'm sure. Good luck!

Because --------your passion is music and that means you are gonna face a lot of ups and downs, rich times, poor times a lot of managers other artists recording lables and politics!!! All the stuff you face in school, only on a grander scale. Persistence.
Try seeing it as a place to practice your skills with people, (you're gonna have to sell your self and your band to people who think they know everything)and seeing it as a place to get material for songs that everyone of us will understand- we've all been there. What better place to get material for any kind of music you write: love, hate,power,supression........

YOu know, if your passion is that important then follow it. If your friends left just because of that then they are not your true friends. As of school, i encourage you to be as positive as you can. Who knows, i can help you tremendously someday. Good luck!
