How does it feel to want?
***edit***
Okay, so much for making it short but sweet.
The man bashing needs to stop, ladies. Idiot bashing is one thing, but don't bash all men simply because some happen to be idiots. We're not all bad.
The bottom line with this issue, as with 90% of the rest of the popular debates these days, is that the government needs to mind it's own business. If you feel it's your job to dictate how others live within the privacy of their own home, then it is you that has the problem, and you who should mind your own business. Don't like abortions? Don't have one! There, problem solved. Don't like stem cell research? Don't support it! There, another problem solved! Wow, this is easy!
While we're at it; Don't like drugs? Don't do any! Don't like gay marriages? Don't marry a gay person! Don't like assisted suicide? Don't have it done to you! Don't like second hand smoke? Don't hang out with smokers! Don't like unhealthy foods? Don't eat them! Don't like SUV's? Don't buy one!
Why must people make such a great concept for a free society so complicated because they think they know better than everyone else? Even when they're right, it's still NONE OF THEIR BUSINESS!!!
Okay, I'm done. Rant over.

You are free to make your beliefs known to your political representatives, either individually, or by working through political action groups that happen to share your beliefs.
This is a topic which has torn the nation apart, due to many people having very strong differing beliefs on the subject.
* If abortion is to be allowed in certain cases, such as when the woman was raped, the mother life at risk etc. how early or late in the pregnancy is it to be allowed. In some cultures, a male child is desired, but not a female ... so female babies are aborted, male babies come to term. Should that be allowed in a society where we believe male & female are equals? How about if it is detected that the baby has some serious birth defects? How serious.
We live in a republic where the representatives are supposed to enact legislation that represents the will of the people. They have not been able to do a good job of this because the people are divided on the issue.
Thus, there is need for people who have differing views to find a way to get to a meeting of the minds, to have a civil discussion, to reach a satisfactory compromise between the differing viewpoings.
Otherwise we will be in the same boat 100 years from now, where the issue has not yet been settled.

It all boils down to accepting the results of your actions. No one ever really thinks enough about consequences or they just don't want to be held accountable for those consequences. Babies don't just happen. No stork, no waking up one day and there's a baby forming. An action was done to cause the baby to come into existence. So, if you do that action and the result occurs that a child IS made, accept the result. No getting rid of it. No do over, no eraser to wipe the slate clean. Everyone has the right to choose whether or not to perfrom the action that makes babies. I do not feel they have the right to choose un-make one. There really isn't such a thing as an unplanned pregnancy. If the action to make the child happened, you have to KNOW the result could come to be.
Of course, there have to be exceptions. You list a couple obvious ones by mentioning victims of rape and if the mother shows a high probablily of dying from complications of the pregnancy or childbirth. I agree that the father should be consulted. Problem is, most males are useless and never around after the action of the making. But, the father was consulted about the decision to make it, and if available, he should also be included in all future decisions about the child.
If a man or woman wants to choose to perform the act of making baby without actually making one, they can first exercise their "right to choose" to sterilize themselves. Then, go perform the action as often as they want.
I think anyone should perform the action as often as they want, just be prepared for what the result can be and be responsible for that result--i.e. be a parent. This, of course opens up the debate that even if the people aren't capable of being a good parent, they're only too capable of performing the actions that can result in them becoming one. But, very few are mature enough to be responsible. Even fewer want to think about consequences or responsibilty.
Can't wait to see how many "it must be someone else's fault cause it's never mine" type people give me a thumbs down.

I agree that's it's not a good method of birth control and should be discouraged as such, but you have got to be joshing...only a man would come up with such a question! When will men ever stop thinking they have the right to dictate what a woman does with her body? I tell you what....make it mandatory for all men to wear condoms if a couple doesn't want to get pregnant and then maybe I'll listen to what YOU have to say...but until then, take your opinions and shove 'em!

Try moving to South Dakota. They're right on board THAT wagon.
Oh, and wouldn't this take away people's right to choice? I mean, I'M not a Christian, so shouldn't I be protected under the constitution, too, because your entire argument, whether you said it or not, IS religiously based. I can't think of a valid, provable argument on how this isn't

Anybody who has any regard for human life would agree with you.
There is this old thing people used to do called abstinence, if you don't want to get hit by a train, stay off the tracks, something like that.

why should we care two cents worth what you want?
my 4 year old grandson wants all kinds of stuff ... and he isn't going to get it.
why should you? [PS: logic is required. Ranting is what the 4 year old does. He stops after he gets spanked.]
