7x^3 - 4x^2 + 8x

first, you want to take an X out of the whole thing

x (7x^2-4x+8)

then if what's in the parenthesis don't factor out, use the quadratic formula. & that's

x = [-b plus or minus, sqr (b^2-4ac) ]/2a

a is 7.
b is -4
c is 8

plug them into the formula & solve for x =]

if you don't understand how to use that formula, use the source i provided =]

The simplest you can factor is x(7x^2-4x+8).

You cannot factor by grouping any further.

you can't factor that. The x's have to have the same exponent to be able to factor them out, and since the coefficients cannot all be divided by the same thing then it is completely factored
