What's the big deal with WOMEN and OPRAH????

I'm from Mexico, but I see a lot on TV that women love Oprah and her show

So, I want to know if that fascination is real or just sth that tv shows make big

Hi Anissa. Basically, women love Oprah because her show mainly showcases things from a women's point of view and, anyone that knows Oprah's background knows of the hardships that she endured to achieve the status that she has now. Many women can relate to her because, when Oprah says, 'Been there, done that!', they know that shes telling the truth. Man and male oriented shows dominate the airwaves in the good ol' US of A, but Oprah is a forum where a woman's voice can definitely be heard. Have a great day,

Oprah isn't an overnight sensation. Oprah started her show when there was no women host nor black host that really dealt with the issues that she is so famous for now.
So the fact that no network had silenced her or tried to change her show to do stupid Jerry Springer things is a testament of her work.
I'm pretty sure she is a tad overrated, but sadly she is all we have to look up to.

I don't watch Oprah too often, but I can understand why a lot of women like her. She is an inspiration to many women especially black women. Oprah wasn't born with money. She came from literally nothing. She was raped and abused growing up, but she did not let that keep her down. She overcame many obstacles in her life that many women may be struggling to go through in their life.

Well as usual comedies, like Married...with Children! radicalize some aspects of the popular culture just for the sake of getting a laugh from the audience. The thing here is that you should draw a perfect line bet wen fantasy (what sitcoms "tell" you about specific aspects of the culture) and reality. This can only be done by research and reading other sources than TV scripts that are brought to you by the actors of the series.

I'm a woman and I've never watched Oprah. Except on YouTube when it showed Clay Aiken as a guest. I watched that part.

I love Oprah because she is a down to earth woman that anyone can relate to. She is generous, interesting, intelligent, funny and usually has very insightful guests on her show. In my opinion, she is to be admired for getting to where she is now from her horrible upbringing.

Because she looks like a Dried up raisin with out the several pounds of makeup. And she hates Whites (listen carefully to her remarks) She pretends to be a true black Sista (Again, listen how she talks different to her black guest compared to her white guest. I think the show Ellen is starting to do damage to the Oprah show. Ellen is funnier, Oprah is depressing. And this my friend is why I think American woman like her.

I think it's more of a fascination with an ultra-wealthy celebrity than anything else. And her giving to charity and providing her studio audience with free gifts helps boost her appeal.

I can't stand the way her audience (mainly women) respond to her by screaming and crying. It just gets annoys me to no end. But that's just me.

However, I do admire her wanting to give her money away to help others, like to assist needy people in both America and Africa. Too many celebrities just hoard their riches.
