I live in Buenos Aires, Argentina with my girlfriend. She has two children, boy 16 and girl 15. They use to ask for a taste of wine or beer during dinner but more recently seem to expect that they can drink a glass of wine or beer with dinner. Is this common, normal, and/or healthy?

In some countries, drinking alcohol is not enforced to the over-21 crowd. There are two main issues:
Is the mother allowing her children to make the rules in the house?
AND - do the children abuse alcohol?

No matter the answer, make sure the kids know about alcoholism, the signs, the treatments and how to tell if they are in danger. The more knowledge they have, the better.

It is not uncommon for teens to have alcohol with dinner in other countries outside of the USA.

Common? Yes.
Normal? For their culture.
Healthy? If in moderation...just like for adults.
