You should probably rethink, or at least restate your question. Bush's approval rating is at 28.9%, but there are equal number of each party in the country. (Roughly 44% of the country consider themselves Republicans).

You also (quite conceitedly, I might add) by your statement imply that everything that Bush is doing is wrong. Most agree that Iraq is in the toilet, but the economy is strong, we're at full employment, the deficits (budget and trade) are lowering, and the housing market is rebounding. In short, apart from the war, we're doing fine.

A better question might be why Democrats are so anti-Bush, but have even less faith in their own leadership. The Dems control both houses of Congress, but their approval rating is at 22.2% (and 67.7% disapprove of the job that they're doing!!). Do Democrats not like ANYTHING?? Where are their ideas?

It's easy to Bush bash when you are living in the most prosperous nation in the world, at one of the most affluent times in our nation's history. Come down from the cheap seats, bubba, and enjoy the ride.

Democrats do the same .
This nation has become an oligarchy . Republicans and Democrats are separate factions of the same party arguing over the best way to implement their statist goals .

Despite the Polosi's and Reid's and the general present ineffectual and do-nothing democratic congress - they still garner support - not a lot, mind you, but support none the less.
I believe this along with your example proves that both parties have their share of straight ticket voters - regardless of the candidates' qualifications, credentials or, in some cases, criminal records.
