Windex and newspapers not paper towels!

The main thing in getting streaks, is the rag. There will be either dirt or oil in the rag or towel. So having a clean rag, towel, or whatever you use is paramount.

I always use a newspaper and vinegar water. It does a good job of getting film off the glass. For really hard films, you can use toothpaste to cut the film. Good luck.

One can of Invisible glass, two microfiber towels

One to spread the application, the other to dry it. Works perfect for me. I avoid Windex
