I can't help but draw the parallels between McMurphy and Jesus:

1.) They both are betrayed (Billy/Judas), who then kill themselves
2.) The party with wine and women is reminiscent of the last supper
3.) McMurphy undergoes electroshock therapy on a table that resembles "the cross"

Your opinion?

Ken Kesey himself wrote that the charactor of McMurphy was based on Jesus Christ.

I haven't thought of it that way but I consider it to be one of the best books I have read.

I read it in 1964.

When the movie came out, I thought they would ruin it as they usually do when they make a movie of a book, but it turned out to also be one of the best movies I have seen.

It made the actor Jack Nicholson.

Thanks for the question.

That's a good analogy. You never really know what's in the mind of an author. Your take is as good as any.....
