I have read online that "taking" ginger during pregnancy could be harmful. I assume that they are talking about ginger supplements but I was wondering if there is any kind of caution advised about ginger powder like one would use in cooking. I like to make stirfry often and use quite a bit of ginger powder to season it. Is this safe or should I stop using it. If it is safe is there any amount that is recommended that one should not exceed during pregnancy?? I am about six weeks along if that matters. Thanks so much:)

GINGER IS A ROOT - rhi·zome [ r zm ] (plural rhi·zomes - This is herbal & ginger wines are made from this for good stomach cure. STONES GINGER WINE are sold in liquor stores & if U consume 2 ozs. during cold days U will feel warm. Good for blood circulation. Ginger is a healer for wind in your stomach. It has been written about this root to be a preventive & cure for cancer.(I cannot remember where I have read this.) Every mornign I cut a 1 inch length of ginger, scrape of the outer skin, cut & bang flat & place in a small pot of water (about 8 ozs.) or 2 cups, add the LIPTON tea leaves (3 teasp), bring to boil. Boiling for about 3mins, add 2-3 teasp. brown sugar (u can add milk if U like). Do this every morning & U will feel the difference in ur stomach compared to coffee which makes ur stomach rumble & growl with the fact it is acidic. Add a bigger piece if U like it nice & hot. If u have real discomfort with this growl in ur tummy other times, U can open a can of GINGER ALE, this will reduce the flatulance & u will feel better after half hour. GINGER candies (avoid too much sugar coated type) that is REAL GINGER candy & not the sweets type is great to chew on now & then daily. U will not complain much more after U have lived on a diet of GINGER be it freshly scrapped ginger or pickled or candied. For substitute at asian meals, I ske for sliced fresh ginger instead of the pickled chillies.

Ginger is fine. I don't know where you read that it could be harmful since it is the most often prescribed homeopathic way to beat out morning sickness. Considering what you could be taking in, I'm sure cooking with it is fine. Don't worry so much!
