For the baby-lots of diapers and wipes. I never knew at the time that a newborn needed so much!
For me-A big gift basket of soaps and shower products..it was so nice because everyone is so focused on the baby, they forget about the mommy :(

honestly i dont think there was a best gift above all the others. everyone got me things that i could use and many i needed, rather then best gifts ide ask what was the worst gifts you got at your baby shower. everything (almost) was great, not so many things were a bad idea.
cloths, face cloths, recieveing blankets, baby bag, blankets, crib set, car seat, play pin. there is no best out of those. the worst though i would have to say was 3 dollar store pacifiers (they dont meet safty reqrments, and the shape really did not work for my daughetr). and the 40 bars of babys own soap (only because my daughter had exema and it irritated her skin and made it worse, if i could have used the soap on her it probly wouldnt have been so useless then)

I received many nice gifts but the best would have to be a hand made scrapbook that my hubby's best friend's wife made for us. It was very cute with detailed themed pages. It was the most thoughtful gift and I'm sure it took a lot of time. It is beautiful and no one else has one which is pretty cool.

The best gift that I got was the stuff noone thinks about for example: socket plugs, cabinet locks, burp cloths, and a small thing for the mother to be to take to the hospital with like shampoo, body wash, ect... a basket full of the things are much appericated.

I got all sorts of stuff, but mainly I got gift cards and clothes. Depending on the amount you want to spend you can do up a little box containing maybe some wipes, baby lotions, baby powder, face washer etc (you can usually get these in a special little pack anyway Johnsons and Johnsons are the best one to get) and maybe a little outfit as well just a little all in one suit maybe socks or even a little dish and spoon. My mum gave me a tiny little china set for her she has her own little spoon, fork, knife, plate, cup and dish.

I got a lot of great things, but the two best and most used was the Graco Travel crib and a Graco Stroller/car seat combo. The travel crib was great for visiting the grandparents and staying at hotels (Hotel cribs are not always safe...babies have gotten killed in them), and the stroller combo was great for errands because if my son fell asleep in the car all I had to do is unhook the seat and snap it into the stroller.

While I haven't had a shower yet, my friend said that she likes to give the mom-to-be a gift certificate for a massage/ spa treatment for a little post-pregnancy pampering. I thought that was brilliant!

For Baby:
The best gifts were the bouncer seat and all the diapers and wipes. I had no idea how many you used in a day.
For Me:
His mom bought me a recliner to rock the baby and for me to relax in. Also she got me some soaps, lotions, and perfume.
I really loved everything, it was all useful and needed.

i got gift cards and was SOOO glad. Cute lil outfits are great but both of my kids were born in the middle of the summer in Texas and they lived in onesies and diaper shirts. with the gift cards i could buy diapers and lil things i needed and had forgotten about.
