I think his discovery has affected our view of history because the more things we discover like "the ice man" and the bosnian pyramid we discover that Europe developed its civilizations and culture independently from Egypt and Mesopotamia. I think it is only a matter of time before we find out more about Otzi's people. As I understand he was carrying a variety of weapons/tools that were made of copper. This shows two things: one that his tribe had some sort of advanced leadership and specialization and two that it was most likely warlike. If you are only using arrowheads for hunting animals and only using axes for chopping down trees you don't actually need a metal one. Contrary to popular myth, a good flint or obsidian axe can chop trees down just as good and doesn't need to be sharpened as much. Also, flint and obsidian arrowheads are just as good if not better for hunting animals as they often have jagged and barbed edges naturally.

It didn't. It gave us an insight into how the man had lived, and how he had died, but it had no affect on history, or on modern man.
