My uncle just bought a new cordless screwdriver, and he gave me his old one. The reason he got the new one is because the old one, the 3 prongs that grip the bit 2 of them are broken. Will I be able to take this to sears and get it replaced or get parts to fix it? Its several years old, but don't all Craftsman products have a lifetime warranty? or even if they won't replace it where can i get parts to fix it?

The part that grips the bit is called the "chuck". These can be replaced. Either with a keyed or keyless chuck. Open it all the way and inside would be a nut with a washer or a screw usually left handed(It tightens to the left and loosens to the right.) the replacement chuck can be purchased at the local hardware store for $10-$25. I replaced my when one of the prongs broke with a Jacobs chuck bought at harbor freight for $8. Good luck

The Craftsman guarantee only applies to hand tools; a cordless drill/driver will not be covered. It sounds like you need a new chuck. It is probably not worth fixing- as soon as you buy a chuck, the batterywill go bad, and generally, replacements batteries cost as much as a new tool.

Believe it or not, Sears doesn't own Craftsman; they are the biggest seller of their products, though. They do NOT warranty their power tools for life. There might be a way to repair yours, but it's old and IF you can repair it, the expense would warrant getting a new one, because you'll still have an old abused tool albeit with a couple new pieces. Otherwise, Craftsman products are generally well-built...but look for sales and garage sales.

I don't think they will because a cordless screwdriver is a "Power tool" Craftsman lifetime warranty is only on "Hand tools" IE; regular screwdrivers, sockets, ratchets, etc.
But it wont hurt anything to take it by the store and find a weak-minded associate who will exchange anything!

power tools have a 1 year repair warranty on them. you can get it fixed by parts and service or order the replacement part but it will probably cost you more then what a new one cost

that warranty applies only to hand tools, not eletric tools and air tools. Beware of sears warranties anyways, if something they have to fix they will try to cheat you out of some money, and on most people they get by with it. I learned from experience

Very doubtful. Sears' warranty is not worth the paper it is written on. Chances are if the identical product is not on the shelf they will not warranty it. Good Luck.

They should. Craftsman is awesome.
I returned a screw driver that was broken in half. (I used it as a lever to get my oil filter off my car.)
I brought it back to Sears just to see if it would be returned. It was oily and everything. They swapped it out, no questions asked.
I love Craftsman.
No harm in trying.
