The reason the helmet has the green dot on the helmets this year, is to eliminate the coaches calling in a fake kicks / extra points to the QB through the head set. If the QB is the holder, he has to come off and switch helmets ( Non-Green Dot)

It designates them as the only player on that team to communicate via a wireless mic and helmet speakers to the sidelines or coaches in a the booth.

QB helmets have a microphone in them for the coach to tell the QB the play. for the time of field goals and better factors the Ball Holder can't have a mic in his helmet so as that a coach can't call a pretend on the final minute. so the refs use the eco-friendly dot so they understand if the QB has a mic in it for the time of field goals.

Yes it is because they QB is mic'd up and they are the only one allowed on the field with a mike in their helmet.

qb's are the only ones to have the green dot on their helmets and there's supposed to be only one on the field. what's to prevent other players from wearing mic'd up helmets without a green dot?
