There needs to be a balance to everything in life. In a case like this, if you are giving more than you receive, you're being taken advantage of. If you take more than you give, you are taking advantage of others. When you give, you should get some satisfaction from being kind and helping someone who needs it. If you ever need help, wouldn't you want to be able to get what you need, and pay the kindness back in some way? Balance, you have to have balance, too much of anything is not good.

Life experience teach us plenty!! We live in such materialistic and selfish world that when we make our path on giving and receiving w are naturally compelled to give much more than to receive. Because looks like a really good person will be like that and for sure giving fulfill our hearts with true happiness. But if one day we get caught by sense of things in such a clear mood that our sights change one of biggest lessons is to learn to receive ... love make us see it and is demanding in breaking that kind of pride. I'm not this perfect but already felt it clear like crystal. For sure they're linked and complete one another. Only in some situations this can be reached= probably monks in all religions do it on a daily basis, isn't it?

Its better to give a helping hand, than to just walk on by. In return receiving something as small as a smile, can make a big difference in the world. Sometimes its the small things that make a big difference. Look at a smaller dime. Its worth 10x more than the bigger penny

It is only good to give if you do so unconditionally. That is with no expectation of return. Being anonymous is also fun. As far as receiving there is nothing wrong with that at all. The only problems that arise between them is when you expect some sort of return on a gift, even so much as a "thank you". Then it is no longer giving, but trading.

It can be better to give when the person receiving gives back (by their appreciation) more than the gift you gave. Make sense?

There seems to be a higher calling and since of morality in giving because it can be very hard. Only in very odd situations is it difficult to receive a gift?

Well what i think is that i feel better about myself when i give. Also I watched the news the other day and they did a study on giving. They found that people who gave were much happier within a week.

Giving... is not always the highest moral calling.
I cite "Atlas Shrugged" for this.
