Not to be hateful, but if romantic was your idea, then waiting till the day of lacks just a little...
But anyway, try this, mine loves it...run him a bubble bath, put on something sexy, and bathe him. If he drinks, get him a cold drink to enjoy while soaking, and if you can manage, his fav food to eat after the bath. Then on to the romance...do for him what he likes most in the bedroom, if you're not sure, then ASK.

i got to go with Rick. nothing romantic except the card you attach his gift to. Keep it manly. a shirt he had been eying, a bottle of his favorite tequila or invite at least 5 of his buddies to take him out for drinks and provide cab fare for all of them. my husband has been going out drinking for his birthday for two years now. i go with him and stay sober. it may not be fun for me, and i stopped trying to bring him into the house from the car, but he has a blast. whatever he remembers of it anyway.

Cook him his favourite homemade supper. After supper give him a whole body massage and as the massage progresses, feel free to use other body parts to massage him than just your hands! I did this once and he still talks about his birthday present!

Give him yourself! Get some kind of cute outfit, with some sexy undies, have a ribbon and a bow somewhere in the vicinity of your sweet spot, pour him a drink, and give him HIS PRESENT!

You can make them and create a little book for him.
ie good for s$x on Saturday night
good for wife mowing the lawn for you.
Good for one great dinner paid by me.
